Sugar Creek Workshop

We Make You Kindly Welcome
I have always admired the simple lines and utilitarian nature of Shaker design. I began my woodworking journey by making and selling Shaker inspired furniture and oval boxes in 1989.
What began as building beautiful, handcrafted pieces as a hobby grew into a small business. Today, I continue to specialize in the creation of useful wooden items of beauty that are meant to be used. Simple forms that please the eye, the hallmark of Shaker design, continue to inspire my work.
Utilizing woodturning lathes, both vintage and new, I seek the beauty that often hides within a piece of wood. For instance, spalting, bark inclusions and other "flaws" from a log that would otherwise be firewood can add movement, excitement and character to a turned bowl.
Sugar Creek Workshop creates handcrafted items from locally sourced materials whenever possible.
Artistry isn’t just the execution and production of new Sugar Creek Workshop pieces; it’s also making sure that each piece will look beautiful wherever it will be displayed or used.

The Workshop
Built Circa 1900
This small building was built around 1900 and moved to its present location in 2001, saving it from demolition. Sugar Creek, a small brook, runs just to the left of the shop and is the namesake of Sugar Creek Workshop.
